The office queen of martyrdom had a special talent for turning every minor inconvenience into a public service announcement about the struggles of being a working parent. 

Now I know most of us probably know one person who believes the world should revolve around their schedule, especially when it comes to work and parenting. But i truly believe this woman is a different breed: Her dishwasher couldn't be fixed during the day because she worked, and the company should just make house calls at night, even if it meant other people missed out on evenings with their families.

    I used to share an office with an absolute nightmare of a person. She made enemies with almost everyone we worked with, was rude to some of our clients, and she was always the victim.

The real issue wasn’t the lack of evening appliance repairs, it was the refusal to make simple adjustments that would actually help her see her kid more. Sometimes the loudest voices in the room are the ones who refuse to see their own role in the mess. The best part was watching her complain about things she could easily change, all while pretending she was the only one with real problems.

  • cakerton Original Poster's Reply It was heartbreaking listening to her talk to her child on the phone every day. She'd start out using her sweet mommy voice and end up giving her the same lecture every day, using a scary, clipped voice. It wasn't abusive but it was just sad, because I met her daughter several times and she was so sweet. Fortunately last | heard she is in college several hours away from her mother and seems to be doing well.

  • WalkingMango Yoyo I was coordinating with my ex husband for getting our child into preschool. I'll skip over the argument and get to the point where we finally agreed on the school. At the time of enrollment, the school hadn't released school hours, just that it would be 6.5 hrs every weekday except 4 hours on Wednesday. My ex wrote to me negotiating which 6.5 hrs and 4 hrs it would be!

  • Z4-Driver It might be a valid issue with the lack of doctors offices open in the evening or similar stuff. But just complaining about it doesn't help. She's an adult and as such she needs to deal with it. She could first try to figure out, if there is some sort of repair service. available in the evening or on weekends. Might be more expensive, but if it fits her schedule better, it could be a way to go. If not, then she needs to accept that and think of how to solve her issue at a time repair s

  • cakerton Original Poster's Reply I would also have felt more sympathetic if she had any kind of work ethic, but she was just a shitty employee. They eventually fired her but it took ten years...and probably took a year off my life working with her lol.

  • Confident_Ad9473 I have client's in the past ask if I can do their installs (appliances) late at night because they don't get off until like 7 pm. I just tell them to schedule me to come back on their day off or take the day off. My time is also important and they are not entitled to my whole life.
